Sunday Chomp Chomp Night

So I went to meet the girls for dinner on Sunday night. Despite my poor stomach, I had to go cos I haven't seen them for such a long time. It was fun. Here are some pics.

Big feet and bus rides

Went to meet him again yesterday, as usual, he's my weekend indulgence. (: Read and read in the library and then went for dinner. Not-so-nice coffee shop Jap food. Then we walked around for a bit. Saw a shoe shop. Wanted to buy a pair. I tried on the largest size but it was a little tight. I remember thinking why have they got shoes this small. Then my next thought was, "Why are my feet this big?" I remember my always telling me I had big feet. She called me Big Foot Girl in hokkien. I'm just glad she's stopped now. It's kind of depressing. Anyway, I didn't buy any, seeing that they have shoes this small (I insist on sticking to this theory).

Then I took a long bus trip home. I suppose people would ask me why wouldn't I want to take the MRT or something. But the thing is I enjoy taking long trips. I guess it sort of started since young. It was comforting and carefree sitting in the car for 4 hours on the road, on the way to Malaysia. I don't think much about road accidents. Just the occasional panic whenever the bus driver swerves to avoid hitting another car. Anyway, back then as a kid I don't think of road accidents. It's bad. We're lucky the public transport in Singapore is so good. You even get to watch TV in the bus. Name me 5 countries with TVs in their buses. You can't. Well, I enjoy bus rides mostly because I like the feeling of... moving. As in you're just moving along nicely, though not on your own feet or whatever. I do most of my thinking in buses, I like looking out the windows at people going on with their daily lives. In MRTs you don't really see a lot. Either things are moving too fast or there's this blackness outside the whole time. In buses I think, listen to music on the IPod, do a bit of reading, or daydream. It's quite nice. But at times I use to think too much, and when I get off the bus my mind gets a little fuzzy. Like, "Where is this? What the fuck am I doing here?" I like bus rides. There was a time I got on a bus just for the sake of it. I didn't have anywhere in mind. Then I felt a little stupid and got off the bus and crossed the road and went back. Yeah, it was a little stupid. I dunno what's the obsession with this bus trip thing. But I like it. That's me. The loony me.

How much should Ethan eat?

My ma and cousin got into quite a knot last night. Before they came and fetch him back, my ma suggested that he had a bottle of milk, since the last time he had one was 5pm, and it was 7.30pm then. He had his milk every 3 hours, in my house. Whereas at his place, his folks let him eat only once every 4 hours. Because they went to see a doctor, and the doc said the baby was eating way too much, that he should cut down. So obviously, the parents heed the doc's advice (who doesn't?). But on the other hand, my ma strongly believes that a baby should have a bottle at least 3 times during the day (I agree). But after listening to the doc, the parents only let him eat twice during the daytime, on the weekends when he's not over.

I dunno who to listen to, the modern logic (the doc), or the traditional logic (my ma). You see, milk formula is actually not that filling. It's only powder and water. Liquid food. The baby pees maybe 3 or 4 times, then the bottle of milk is out. He'll be even hungrier if he poops. In my opinion, just let it be lor. He eats less at home, he eats more over here. I just hope nothing bad will result because of this.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Watched Pirates of the Caribbean 3 yesterday. I think it was okay. He thinks part 2 was better. Dunno if there will be a part 4 or not. I feel the story doesn't end there. Still, it was a typical Pirates movie. I felt Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan's marriage on board the ship while fighting was a tad dramatic. Somehow after the whole thing we felt sleepy and went home early.

Yesterday

Took this video of Ethan yesterday. That's me in the background, going "Ethan... Ethan... Ethan..."

Then I had fun with his pacifier. I washed it with his detergent of course. It tasted of bananas. Okay, I ought to stop posting videos and pictures of this little boy. It's making me a pervert. I'll stop posting when he's 10. And I'll start posting again when he's 18. Haha.

I'm really starting to love the Channel 8 9pm show. I cried last night when Wen Wen told his ma the truth, that the fucking bitch gave him all those bruises. It's stupid how people can get blinded by love. That's really bad, how the family fell apart like this. I loved how the couple bicker over little things, but not to this extend. I can't believe how the guy can still ask that woman if she beat the kid. That's like asking a serial killer if he's murdered someone. What the fuck. Aiyah, but it's just a show. Hahaha.

This one week break

Somehow time is passing quite slowly. I'm just helping around the house and with the baby, reading my novels and finishing up my assignments. Have more or less completed them. Pirates of the Caribbean 3 opens tomorrow and I'm going to watch! (: YESSS!!!!! "Welcome to Singapore!", says Chow Yun Fatt. That's crazy.

He may look like a pro here, but actually I gave him a little shove, behind the scenes.

Another update

Am feeling bored. Woke up early again this morning. I don't like having the luxury of lazing in bed. You'll never find me doing that. There's just too many things to do other than sleeping! Sleeping's a waste of time.

Having a one-week break. Dunno what I'm going to have to do with myself. Everybody's busy with school, whereas I'm the most carefree one. My school hours are Apple Tree hours. Going have to finish up with my assignments. Going to read a lot. Going to spend more time with this little boy that we have learned to love. (:

Update!

Nothing much to update, really. Life has been so-so.

Completed Final Fantasy last night. I mean, almost completed, cos I didn't defeat the final boss. I dunno, I just didn't feel like slaying him. The bf pointed out that once I have a new game, I'd chuck everything aside and just spend all my time on the game. I didn't notice it but yaarh, I just realised. I mean, I completed an RPG game in 4 days. I played it the whole of yesterday. The PSP was attached to my hands all day except when I had to eat, to help with the baby, and to pee-wee and take a shit (for which I attach a book to my hands). Now that I've completed the game, I feel hollow. Somehow.

The baby is learning fast. He's smart. He already knows how to bash at the buttons on his musical toys. He'll be 4 months old this Thursday. (:

Yesterday's ongoings!

Yesterday my baby came over to fix his old DVD drive to my computer. And brought along a new Final Fantasy 1 PSP version! New game to indulge in! Thanks baby! (: It was kind of funny the way he carried the baby. He carried the baby facing his face, and the baby sneezed in his face. And the baby still couldn't balance his head properly and kept leaning forward so it looked like the baby was trying to kiss my baby. Humph. But I'm glad my ma was happy to see him again. (:

My aunt (baby's grandma) came after he left, to see her grandson. And at night my cousin came to have dinner here.

And I skipped school. =)))

Simon? Siglap?

I grew up in a Chinese-speaking family who tries hard to speak English. But now only the old ones aren't that great with the language. Well, me and my sis can jabber away all we want but they don't understand a single thing. I think my Ma can catch a thing or two but my Pa won't understand nuthin'. One evening, I was looking at 小杰's (小杰 sounds much nicer than Ethan or 凯杰) little tufts of baby hair, and I remarked on what funny hair he has. Then my Ma suddenly said, “你看,他也有 Simon。”I was like“Simon? 什么 Simon?”Then she went, "Neh, Simon lor," and pointed to his SIDEBURN. Orh....

Another evening, my Pa came home from work. He sort of smiled like he remembered something, and muttered something that sounded like 'Siglap'. I heard it and asked, “什么 Siglap? Siglap Road arh?” He carried on muttering, "Siglap, siglap," and walked away. I pondered for some moments then finally understood and shouted, "Orh... SHUT UP!!!"

Haha. What funny parents I have. I learnt my Chinese from them, but learnt English in school and the countless episodes of Power Rangers and Seseme Street. Seriously, if you want your kids to start talking like Americans with slang, make them watch Seseme Street.

Lose it!

I've decided.

I'm going to lose that spare tyre I've lovingly had for so long. Going to start by doing sit-ups everyday. Yay me!!!! (:

Sunday, May 06, 2007

Update!

Nothing much. I took the right choice to start on my assignment early and not hug the Buddha's leg at the last minute. One day he might not let me hug his leg. Well, the lecturer went and said that if we didn't start now, we might not have enough time to complete it. After that, I went home and started on it, and within 2 hours, I was almost finished! I'm doing an assignment on Singapore Press Holdings so all I've got to do left is to go down there and take a couple of photos of the building and add in what I still haven't wriiten. Anyway, most of what I've already done was copied and pasted from the website. I is smart. =)))

As usual, yesterday met the bf and went to the library. He's going to be busy from now on cos his business is starting up. When his website is completely done up, I'll put in his website's link and all of you please go check it out! And please everyone, please recommend to your friends and relatives so he'll make money and I can have a good life. (:

Anyway, I really have this bad habit of borrowing more novels when I haven't finished reading the ones I borrowed earlier. Now I have around 5 or 6 novels waiting to be read. I is happy. =))) Novels sound more grown-up, storybooks are for babies. Haha.

Shibye?

Today in class the tallest Korean guy in our class started saying 'shibye' to a China guy. He was like, "Shibye!" The China guy went, "Shibye?" I thought they were saying 'cheebye'. Then the Korean guy said "Shibye is FOOK YOU!" In Korean. Orh...

我要活得快乐,
我要活得匆足,
我要活得精彩!

Something to think about

If at first you fall on your face the only acceptable response is to pick yourself up, refluff your hair, and go on bigger and better than ever. Wallowing in self-pity, or, worse yet, apologizing, is unacceptable. Even acknowledging that you bungled something is beau-coup unacceptable. It shows weakness, and being weak is far far worse than making a mistake. Moreover, if you hold your head high and you navigate a blunder carefully, most people will forget that you ever made one.

Material World

Today we had an enjoyable Econs lesson. We laughed quite lot when our lecturer told us about her conversation with her cousin. Our lecturer said they were out having lunch when the cousin looked at my lecturer's $100+ watch and said, "Peggy! Why do you still have that watch? You should buy one of mine.", and she pointed to her own Rolex. My lecturer thought that was kind of rude and asked, "Hey, what's the time now?" The cousin looked at her Rolex and said, "11:30." And my lecturer went, "Hey! Mine says 11:30 too!" She meant that she bought her watch to tell the time, while at the same time implying that her cousin uses her Rolex for something else altogether, which is, to put it bluntly, to show off.

I think the material world is so shallow. Living in a well-to-do country like Singapore, you see these people everywhere. LV bags, Emporio Armani suits, Gucci sunglasses... Some buy just because they can afford it. Others buy because they want to seem as if they belong to the upper class, even if they can't afford that branded bag but went ahead and spent that month's salary on it, and after that tightening their belts. These products are used to symbolize their positions in society. I think only the very rich people should spend their money on these luxuries. For example, this rich guy not only wears a Rolex, an Armani suit, but also drives a BMW and live in a high-end condo. People will think he's indeed very rich. As compared to this girl who lives in a lousy HDB, takes public transport, spends very little on food, but carries a Gucci bag. People will think she's shallow. That she's trying too hard to fit in the upper class society.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is a societal problem.

Global Warming

I've been watching Channel News Asia's documentaries on global warming. It's only now that I'm starting to get a little worried. I stress on the word 'little' cos I think most people think the same way, that global warming is a slow process, until the Earth becomes deep fried with the Sun's deathly rays, most of us will be long dead. But the process is speeding up. It's kind of scary, you know, the fact that most people don't give a fuck about the Earth they live on. In maybe 20 - 30 years, the sea level will rise by 7 metres. And that's quite a lot, you know, living in a country like Singapore. Go check out the Singapore River, that's the sea level.

Global warming is caused by the thinning of the ozone layer, which is the layer of atmosphere which blocks out most the heat emitted by the Sun. Now there's already a huge hole in the ozone layer, and this is causing the Earth to heat up. The icy cold places like the North Pole and Antarctica are heating up, too, causing the ice to melt rapidly. And the shocking thing is, this might gradually lead to the extinction of polar bears. The animal lover that I am, well, I love polar bears. Anyway, with the ice melting, which means that there are less ice, which means that polar bears can no longer wait at ice holes in the ice for seals to come up and breathe. See, seals use these holes to breathe, and that's when polar bears grab their chance and seize their meals. With less ice around, polar bears have to go into the icy water to catch seals now, resulting in more excercising and less food for the bears, resulting in polar bears getting thinner, resulting in extinction, cos skinny female polar bears can't give birth. And they are really getting slimmer! I mean, polar bears used to look to fat and cuddly and furry right. Now they just look long. Long and skinny. That's sad.

If you think you're not contributing to the warming of the Earth, you're wrong. Almost everything we do contributes to global warming. Turning on the lamp, washing our clothes in the washing machine, driving home... Everything. The Earth is heating up gradually, every minute, every second. And it's so... inevitable.

Here's how it all started...

I dunno why I felt like writing this. Maybe it's to remember how we felt at the beginning. We've been going on strong for 1 year and 2 months now. Here's the story of how me and my baby started: Two lonely people log on to IRC. We chat and kept in contact. After a while of knowing each other I realise his then relationship wasn't going too well. It was when he went with her to Taiwan for a week, that I realised I love him. In fact, I loved and missed him so much then, I wanted him go get back RIGHT THEN. I remember the night he was due back, I went out to my workplace to seek some company. I was waiting for his phone call while I peeled 60 century eggs with 小宏 and 小康. Then my phone vibrated on the kitchen table and 小康 went, "电话!电话" I quickly grabbed the phone despite my hands smelling of century egg and I've been so happy ever since. Anyway, a few days later somehow his relationship ended. Then I took the courage and met him. Things went slow. I found it hard to get use to. Him being much older. I was 16, him 28. But our relationship eventually improved. We had our first kiss in the Asian Civilization Museum. We sat on a bench to rest our legs. That's when his face came close. After that we both looked up at the same time and saw a security camera pointed straight at us. Then we walked away quickly. Although there has been ups and downs, I'm glad to say there has been mostly ups.

The most horrible times I've been through with him, I must say, was the week he spent at Taiwan, his two weeks of army at Australia, and that moment when I felt really lost. Other than those times, everything's been great. He's nice and thoughtful and kind and friendly and knows a lot. But he has a weird temper. But his weird temper shows up rarely, thank God. Yes, so that's the story. I love you, baby.

Complain!

I am complaining cos I thought he was going to meet me today,
but he went and agreed to meet his friend later on today.
Then I tell him I want to go Botanic Garden.
Then he tell me it's actually called Botak Garden.
If we go there, there will be monkeys chasing us and pulling our hair,
therefore we will all be botaks.
And there is a Loch Ness Monster in Botanic Garden.
-.-"

Spent quite some time on the computer today.
Read the post of the girl who dissed Debra Koh.
I was like, "Full of singlish and immaturity,
so NO CLASS."

I went back and read some of my previous posts.
I realised with a jolt,
why were my previous posts so long?
I think I had nothing better to do, then.
But it's not like I have plenty to do now.
Of course, it all sums up to one word: LAZINESS.
But luckily it's not always lah.

Today was kind of chaotic.
Now am having a headache the size of Europe.

The baby just went back.
I waved and waved in his face today.
I don't think he recognizes me anymore.
What?! It's only been two days!

I realise it's quite tiring to keep searching for new blogskins.
I'm going to keep this skin,
and improve with the header picture.
Gerard Way is only temporary.

I want to write the story of how my and my baby started.
But I've got to ask for his permission first.
Hehe.

Update!

Okay.
Last week was okay,
nothing dramatic happened, nothing exciting.
In short, last week was boring.
Nowadays I'm just reading my novels,
and wait for the afternoon to arrive so I can go to class.
I think I enjoy class a lot more now,
cos lessons are in the afternoon.
I mean, it's not a big deal anymore,
I'm like, go to school then go to school lor..
I don't have this stupid dreadful feeling of the burden to have to wake up at 7.30am every morning.
Now I just wake as I please,
except the stupid baby woke me up this morning with his loud cooing and baby noises.

Baby Ethan's grown a lot since the first time I met him, three weeks ago.
He's grown bigger and fatter,
and not forgetting, LOUDER.
I was laughing at him when my Ma told me Ethan's dad told her that the baby is overweight.
I'm like, okay, you stupid fat baby!
And he'll smile at me.
The triangular piece of delicate skull is not so obvious now.
In the past I used to get really irked when I see his brain throbbing underneath his scalp.
The adults have warned us not to press on that area cos it might give him brain damange.
He's adorable, you know.
He's not a beautiful baby but he just makes people fall for his cuteness when he smiles.
He smiles a lot.
When we all laugh at him,
he thinks we're laughing at something,
and he silently laughs with us,
which makes us laugh even harder.

Last night MY baby asked me when I want to get married.
I've been thinking.
Hmmm.

School

Yesterday's Econs lesson was great.
The lecturer was the same lecturer I had for my Diploma for Econs.
She's the only female lecturer I've ever had in MDIS.
I guess everybody thinks of her as a mother figure,
that's why we enjoy her lessons so much.
And she's has this funny laugh,
which goes, "Hur hur hur."
And she does it in a deep voice.

Today's lesson is Principles of Operations Management.
Don't know if I want to go for the trip to the beer brewery.
$5 entrance fee.
And free sampling of all sorts of beer! (:

My Tuesday

A day's events, summarised in a few lines:
1. Baby Ethan is naughty.
2. New lecturer is painfully boring.
3. I bought 8 char siew buns.
4. NTUC's $2.85 chicken is sold out.
5. There is one chicken left in the fridge,
and Ma is cooking it for dinner.
6. Chicken rice!

That's all.

Thanks Tong Huiling!

THANK YOU TONG HUILING!(:
For the Hello Kitty ramen set.

I love the bowl,
but the noodles wasn't so nice.
I cooked it and it turned out like this:

It was SALTY.
Nevertheless, my Ma ate it all.

Steamboat!

Last night went to meet the girls at Marina Bay for steamboat.
Unfortunately PY wasn't there.
It was fun,
not having met them for so long.
We ate a lot of crabs haha.
It sure was worth the $12.

Babies

It's so weird the way babies sleep.
Or maybe just this particular one.
One afternoon I watched him sleep.
First, the expression on his face was blank,
as in he looked like sleeping.
But then he'd suddenly burst into a wide grin,
open-mouthed, like laughing or something.
He'd have these little sudden burst of grins and laughter,
like someone was playing with him in his sleep.
But he sometimes had other expressions too.
Like he was in pain or tasting something bitter.
I watched him grin a few more times then I got really spooked.
It's damn scary.
I quickly walked away.
Once when he was asleep in my Ma's arms,
and I saw him grinning,
I asked my Ma why.
She said, “床婆在跟他笑。”
And once,
he was in a bad mood and whined and cried,
my Ma carried him and sort of faced him to our god altar,
he suddenly burst out smiling,
when looking at our 观音娘娘 statue.
He carried on smiling for quite some time,
so I took the chance and snapped some of the best photos I've ever taken of him.
Our 观音 must have been playing with him too.
Another thing is, sometimes he'd look at a particular place and smile.
I dunno whether if he's smiling to himself or smiling at something.
Scary huh?
I wonder if he sees things we can't.

I Saw Thomas Ong! (:

Just reached home!
The Financial Management exam wasn't so bad.
I didn't really study for the theory part but I don't think it's going to affect my fate of passing or failing the module,
as long as I get most of the questions for the calculations correct.

Okay.
So I went to meet the bf at the National Library after my exam to study.
But end up didn't really study a lot.
So when we were about to leave,
we were at the elevators when the bf said to me,
"那个人很熟."
I turned around and guess who it was?
THOMAS ONG!
The bf said it quite loudly so I think Mr. Thomas Ong must have heard him,
so he turned over to look at us.
And that's when I turned to look at him! (:
*Drools all over the floor*

Last night's episode of Desperate Housewives!

Last night's episode of Desperate Housewives was great!
Definitely the most intense episode ever! (:
I'm going to check out the website or something.

Today I'm going to prepare for tomorrow's Financial Management exam.
Actually I haven't studied anything until last night.
I always hug the Buddha's leg at the last minute.
Luckily he let me hug. >.<

Today's Exam

Okay.
So the exam wasn't as bad as I had expected.
At least some things I had studied did come out.
And at least I was able to take the exam.
I lived in fear for the past few weeks that I was going to barred from taking the exam.
But no, there no bracketed words beside my name on the list that said I was barred.
I was constantly skipping classes.
1 down, 2 more to go. (:

New Playlist

This is much better!
Listen to the first song!
It's FUCKING NICE!

My Deteriorating Memory!

I realised with a jolt yesterday when I was studying that I'm now not as good as memorizing stuff for exams,
compared to when I was in secondary school.
Is it that I'm getting old or are the things I'm studying are so boring that I can't get them into my head?
By hook or by crook, I've got to get them in,
with tomorrow being the big day, and all.

I've been meaning to blog about the recent shocking news of the salary of our gahmen ministers and all that,
but I don't want to seem like I'm opposing the gahmen (starting to suspect that I am).
Was in the library yesterday and the bf went to hunt for some foreign newspapers,
and even the Hong Kong paper has the news of the salaries of our gahmen people's on the front page!
ON THE FRONT PAGE!
And as compared to other countries Presidents and such,
ours are very very well-off.
I'll stop here.
In case I go on and on and really become a gahmen opposer.

It's raining outside.
I love the rain.
Except when I'm outside.
Cos I refuse to buy myself some new slippers.
I may fall to my death anytime.

Check him out!

This guy is really good.
He has had 18,243,495 views on YouTube, the last time I checked.

Exams Next Week! >.<

Not feeling so good.
Am dreading the coming week.
That's the "week of exams".
But whatever,
I'll be able to see Ethan too.

Am starting to think the baby's kind of cute.
Adorable when he's happy, but has a roaring temper when he's unhappy.
He's coming every morning around 7.30 - 8am,
and goes home at 7 plus in the evening.
A whole 12 hours with us.
Looking forward to the next few months,
when he'll start to grow and play and crawl and maybe even talk.
He's going to be a fast learner, this one.
We can already see he's smart.
He'll be up and running in no time. (:

Update

I went to the library for a while just now.
Came home and Ma was feeding Ethan.
After feeding, he released 2 or 3 humongous burps.
I burst out laughing cos he had a very weird expression on his face when he burped.
He then proceeded to pee on me.
And then cry like there's no tomorrow.
Noisy kid. ):

The baby

So the baby was here yesterday, along with mother and father.
They are going to keep coming until Thursday.
The baby kept eating and farting.
Haha.

Saturday, April 07, 2007

My Saturday Afternoon

I'm in the library with him now.
I'm spending so much time with him,
but it's never enough.
Well, you understand.

So yesterday my cousin, her husband, and the baby came over.
I was sort of napping when my Ma opened my door with the baby in her arms,
to "introduce" us.
He was wearing this bright green one-piece baby suit,
I thought he looked like a bright green cabbage.
Without my specs I'm blind,
so I sat up and leaned in to see his face properly.
When I peered at his face,
he sort of shook his head and squirmed to get away.
Didn't get off to a very good start, did we?
No, didn't think so.

Me and my sis have started to call him The Caterpillar (because of his green suit).
I'm contemplating calling him Little Green Man.
Anyway,
his name is Ethan Mak Kai Jie.

My Thursday Morning

Not feeling so good.
Feeling very sleepy.
Consideration is being made for going back to sleep,
but I've got so many things yet to be completed.
Feeling kind of lethargic and nasal.
Not having blocked nose but voice sounds terribly whiny, for some reason.
Around 7:15am, the Ma dropped the bamboo thing before putting the clothes out to dry.
The noise jolted me awoke.
I am not happy.

Mother and son will be arriving tomorrow.
Being Good Friday and a public holiday, the father may probably be here too.
They'll be bringing the baby cot and nappies and bottles and pacifiers and milk formulas and all the things that troublesome
babies need.
Baby and I will be laying our eyes on each other for the first time tomorrow.
Hope we will give each other good first impressions.
We will be seeing a lot of each other.
A lot.

This is my short hair.
Not particularly pleased with it.
But whatever.

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

My new loves

And Gerard Way.
I think he looks better with short black hair,
like in the video of 'I Don't Love You'.

Update!

Just received news that the baby will be arriving next Monday.
I've got no school then, but he'll be a major distraction from my studying.
I'll be teaching him to laugh like the angmoh baby of the video I took from YouTube.
Heh.

There's this guy with the darker skin colour from another race (I'm not going to say the "I" word),
I can't believe how hao lian he is.
He parked his Honda (not very good or new) right outside the lecture theatre.
After class, all of us went out and saw him in his car,
with his stereo blasted way too loud,
driving off.
He was playing some outdated ghastly techno song.
People were laughing.
Can you imagine?
Ugh, I hate this kind of people.

Quit-Smoking Advert

I see her everywhere.
On the TV, in bus shelters, in newspapers.
This ad was meant to shock people into quitting smoking, for good.
It shocked people well.
The Singapore Smoking Control Campaign's toll-free smoking QuitLine has seen a five-fold
increase in the number of calls.
On 28th March, the Health Promotion Board also launched another advertising tactic at
Raffles Place, featuring a "sick patient" on a stretcher being monitored by a doctor,
and nurses distributing flyers to the lunchtime crowd.
Although this effort pushes smokers to quit their bad habit,
parents are also worried.
The TV ads are now only going to be shown from 8pm onwards,
when most children would not be watching TV.
Complaints were received from parents that after watching the ads,
the children had nightmares.

It's enough to shock me,
what have we got to say about children?
I was walking to the bus stop after school on Friday,
when I saw this women at the bus stop again.
And for the rest of the day I had her gross image glued to my mind.
Let's hope there are not going to be any more of this kind of ads.

My Saturday

So I'm at the National Library now, with him.
The Internet connection really sucks.
I found the Marketing Management book I wanted and am really happy about it.
Along with it I found a really new and nice (most comics are all tatted and torn) Calvin
and Hobbes comic.
Now all we do is sit at the library during weekends,
and sometimes even weekdays.
Well, all the time.
You think that's boring?
I think it's good.
I love books. (:

I surprise myself sometimes.
I never knew I could write that kind of stuff.

A Haircut

I just went and got me a haircut.
The hairdresser chopped off half a ton of my gorgeous mane off my precious head.
I think she has a problem with my Ma.
My Ma used to have a problem with her.
So she cut off most of my hair for vengence?
But that's stupid.
I'm the innocent party!

LOVE

I know I love to say that love changes people and this and that,
I really mean it.
Love makes you do things you never knew you would do.
Like going long distances (I mean literally).
I've been travelling from Toa Payoh to Jurong East to see him,
but not all the time of course.
Would you do that just to see a friend?
I would probably say,
"YOU SIAOW AH!!! So far, you come here lah!!!!"
Xiao Hong once asked me if I loved someone,
would I go all the way to Joo Chiat to buy chee cheong fun for him?
I said yes.
His question made me think a lot.
I guess love makes people excited somehow.
This anticipation...
This happiness you feel.
I used to have this feeling of my heart swelling (no, it's not a heart condition)
and face gets hot and stomach fluttering thing going on inside me.
I sort of miss that feeling.
Now everything's just going on as it's supposed to be.
Nothing exciting anymore.
But I still get that feeling of luuuuurve when I look at him.
One year ago,
Xiao Hong used to ask me why I keep smiling to myself at work.
He could see that glow.
It's like, if you've seen someone in love, you'll immediately sense it.
It's like a glow, somehow emiting from the person's aura,
that differntiates that person from everybody else.
Some people say they don't need love,
that single is the best, whatever.
Well, I can say, they are bluffing.
Love is the best feeling in the world.
Love is what everybody should look out for in life.
Love is what everybody is looking out for in life.
To love and be loved.
Just having that feeling once is enough.

Somehow love makes you stronger,
makes you more matured,
makes you less selfish,
makes you wake up every morning feeling really happy.
There are things you wouldn't do when you're not in love.
Like just staring at the handphone,
wishing he would sms or call you RIGHT NOW.
Like wishing the bus or train would move faster,
so you can see him sooner.
Like taking up cooking,
so you can cook for him.
Like washing the dishes with him and feeling nice,
although it's something you deeply loathe.
Like loving kids and wanting to have some,
so that you can raise a family with him.

For some reason,
I'm humming to Nat King Cole's L.O.V.E.
Hmmm,
I wonder why.

Update!

Received the news that there won't be a break after the exams.
New modules start immediately after the week of exams.
We need a break.
I mean, we're not exactly up to our eyebrows with textbooks,
but at least have the decency to spare us just one measly break after the exams?
Okay, what's the use of me protesting?
If I complain to the management, I may just get myself kicked out of the school.

Next week's the last week of school,
before we break (I mean, study week) for the exams.
Gotta reeeeeally buck up.

With the bad news done,
now the good news:
MY BACK DOESN'T HURT NO MORE! (:

I love it that when our body gets hurt or sick,
it will automatically repair itself.
Just sleep that pain/sickness away!
But you'll probably need a lot, a lot of sleep.

These days have been busy rushing project and homework.
Now that they're done,
I can take a breath.
It doesn't really take up a lot of time,
but I hate datelines.
I just have this feeling of dread,
whenever a dateline looms near.
Like for example, library date dues, payment date dues,
especially homework datelines.
I mean, even if I had finished it early,
I'd still hate it.

The Lingering Smell

I woke up the past two mornings smelling of Tiger Balm,
went to sleep at night smelling of Tiger Balm,
Don't think I'll be rid of Tiger fucking Balm for some time.
It's not doing me much good.

Exams are around the corner.
It'll be much, much more difficult this time around.
I'll have to keep reminding myself that I'm smart,
and I can accomplish anything I want.
So that I'll be confident.
Nah, I'm kidding.
If I'm able to pass Financial Management,
I'll thank the Gods, the Heavens, and my smartness. (;

My Unlucky Saturday

After the night of pizza,
I think I must have sprained my back or something cos now I have a fuck of a backache.
PY did you spread it to me?
But there's no such thing as contagious backache,
so I've got no one to blame,
not even myself.
Or maybe I over-exerted myself.

Anyway, despite the nagging pain in my back,
I stubbornly went out to see the bf at Jurong East,
I wish we went to Bugis instead,
cos it's so much nearer to home.
Yeah, I was there for a few hours,
maybe 3?
Then I really couldn't stand the pain anymore,
I was sitting on the floor and felt as stiff as a log.
Standing up and stretching did not help,
I could even stretch without wincing in pain.
And weird sounds escaping from people's lips are not tolerated at the library.
So we left,
and headed to the nearest Waston's to buy me some meds.
If not for the Panadol,
I don't think I would have made it home.
I bought a box of Panadol Extend and some Tiger Balm plaster.
Now I'm sitting at home with painkiller in my stomach,
and Tiger Balm on my back.
I feel a little better.
Yeah, a little.

Oh yeah,
and I left my thumbdrive at the library.
I was on the bus (luckily not too far from the library),
when I suddenly scrambled down the bus,
and walked as fast as I could to the library (my back hurt like hell).
I called the bf, too.
He was about to board the train,
luckily he did not.
He reached the library shortly before I did.
He found it, thank God.
No, thank God no one's eyes were sharp enough to see a stray thumbdrive lying on the floor.

All in all,
quite a disastrous day.
Not one of my happiest days, no.

Pizza Making Night

Yesterday was kind of fun.
I reached PY's house only to sit there and watch TV for a while,
and after that we went to buy the ingredients for pizza.
We had to make do without using an oven.
But overall I still think it was quite successful,
if not a mess. (:
Here are some pics:

My Friday Evening

Am at Peiying's house now.
Was feeling bored and chatted with her on MSN but somehow I ended here at her house cooking dinner and making 4 pizzas.
Just had dinner now.
Will upload pictures another time.

Being A Ma

Nothing much is happening in my life,
I guess that's why I don't blog so much anymore.
This week is supposed to be my one week break.
But the management went and took it away,
leaving us with 2 days of lesson this week.
It's not that bad, I guess.

This is already the midst of March.
April is coming along and it will bring with it a baby to our house.
No, I'm not giving birth,
my Ma is going to be the nanny of our cousin's little boy.
I've never seen him before.
I only know he's 3 months old, dark skinned, and have long legs.

Um, everybody, please stop saying there's something wrong with this, something wrong with that, about my blog.
I can't change all the mistakes.
There's a bug in blogger that goes around screwing up some people's blog.
Maybe if we leave it alone it'll return back to its original state.

I'm feeling fucked up.
Don't feel so good these days.
Been thinking about the past and the childhood.
I typed and saved parts of my feelings about my past...
Dunno if I should put that in the blog or not.
All I know is that I hated reading it,
and I hated myself for writing it.
I found myself crying after writing it.

I guess being in love makes you think about the future.
Buying the house, the car, the children...
Well I've been thinking a lot about the last bit.
I think if I were to be pregnant now,
I won't feel that bad.
The ones who are going to freak out are my parents and the bf.
I want a boy, he wants a girl.
But it's not up to us to decide, I guess.
I'd raise him/her like the most important thing to me in my life.
He/She would wake up in the mornings and I'll be the first person he/she sees.
I'd bring him/her to McDonald's to have breakfast once in a while,
like my Ma did.
We'll bring him/her to the beach, the library,
we'll go kite-flying...
I want to be a good Ma.

Yo, Girrrls!

Watched The Tyra Banks Show.
Don't usually watch that talk show but I was to help my Ma shred chicken breast meat,
so what the hell, I turned on the TV to watch something and shred chicken at the same time.
I love American talk shows.
Ophra Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres, Tyra Banks...
Well, today's episode of The Tyra Banks Show is one of the best I've seen.
It started with Tyra Banks showing pictures of herself being taken by some person,
who got the unflattering angle of Tyra Banks.
She looked, well, fat.
So the guy must have sold the picture to the American tabloids and said Tyra Banks gained 40 pounds.
She started the show clarifying that,
let's put it in my less civilised terms,
"TO HELL WITH YOUR SHIT STORIES!!!"
She actually shouted, with a choked voice, to the tabloids and paparazzi,
"KISS MY FAT ASS!"
Okay, then following that,
the show began with the topic of the weight issue,
more specifically, anorexia.

It's really kind of scary.
To watch these women feel so uncomfortable in their own skin.
They make themselves believe that they will be more beautiful if they lose an extra pound, an extra inch,
by simply not eating.
There was this married mother of two, who was also anorexic, who went on the show.
She's 27, and weighs 75 pounds.
How much is that?
30+kg?
She's 27 and looks like a 9 year old kid.
I bet you could take a pair of chop sticks and hit her ribs and you could make a musical intrument out of her ribs.
She looked frail and very very unhealthy.
Let's just say that if she happens to be caught in a strong wind,
she just might fly away with it.

I'm glad there are not too many cases of anorexia in Singapore.
But I've seen some girls who are way way way too skinny.
There was once, in the MRT, a very very skinny girl sat beside me.
Her arms were just bones wrapped with skin.
I bet she couldn't be pinched.
Imgaine hugging her.
*Shudders*
Anyway, she and her friend came and sit beside me.
Luckily, her friend looked more healthy.
At first, I didn't notice her skinniess.
Cos you don't sit in the train and directly turn to the person beside you to look at him or her.
People started staring at her and that's when I noticed.
I tell you, I sure as hell wanted to get away.
Maybe run to the other bunk or something,
in case somebody looked at the both of us and started seeing the vast difference.
I will personally kill the person who says,
"Wah! So big difference ah!",
and following that,
shoot myself.
Luckily, that did not happen.

The problem behind all of this weight loss craze and anorexic girls is that these girls lack confidence and self-esteem.
The word anorexia would never have been invented if everybody could look at themselves in the mirror and say
with a bright smile, "I'm beautiful!"
They feel so uncomfortable in their own skin,
they have to keep losing weight to reassure themselves that they are beautiful.
I'm not saying skinny isn't good.
Healthy skinny is okay,
but not life-threatening skinny.
To think, half a century ago,
people would be fighting for food,
instead of now, pushing their plates away.

Blackness.

Was in class having Financial Management,
when I felt a slight shaking of the floor.
Left, right, left, right...
Thought the table was shaking,
so I removed my arms from the table.
I asked my friend if he felt it,
he said no.
Then laughingly said,
"Earthquake in Indonesia? Hahaha."
We left it at that.

Then I was chatting with bf on the phone
when I received an sms from that same classmate.
It said, "Really got earthquake just now in Indonesia!"
I burst out laughing.
Just finished a good book,
Girl In Times Square by Paullina Simons.

Been reading a lot.
I discovered my love for reading when I was young.
Pa used to say I'm never seen without a book.
Now he doesn't say anything.

Feeling sad today.
My mood was deeply affected by a question I asked a friend,
of something that happened in the past.
And I thought of death.
A car sped by,
ignoring the red light.
I was about to cross the road.
I thought about the events that would follow,
if I were to take that wrong step,
just one step earlier.
What would I see then?
Red lights?
A crowd gathering?
The sky crying for me?
Or just nothing?
Blackness.

Where would I go?

Toto, HUAT AH!

The toto results came out at 10 last night.
I was about to switch off the TV,
when out of curiosity,
I turned to Teletext to see what the numbers the whole nation has been trying to guess was.
Was thinking of betting, too, initially.
Well, maybe at around 7:30PM last night,
with only 1 hrs 30 mins left before they closed the bet.
Then maybe I decided that I must try my luck next year.
10 million, you know.
Not a small sum.
Bf told me the average amount being betted was $20.
So $20 times the Singapore population, 4.6 million,
which is equals to $92 million.
So the gahmen must have to give the winning price 10 million,
when in fact they earn about 82 million.
That's great.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

It's been raining since yesterday.
I can't stand it anymore.
I ruined my plans for yesterday.
I want to go out!
Without holding a fucking umbrella.
